With the new Blaupunkt DAB’N’PLAY 550, your old car radio becomes a digital all-rounder: DAB+, listening to music from your smartphone, or making hands-free calls. All this is possible with the new Blaupunkt upgrade, without any complicated modifications to your car.

The DAB adapter consists of a compact receiver box and a handy control unit with a display. It also includes a hands-free microphone, a DAB/DAB+ windscreen antenna, and the necessary connection cables.

The receiver box operates on 5 volts and is powered either via an adapter connected to the radio’s 12-volt power supply or via the cigarette lighter socket. Both are included. The receiver unit is installed in a concealed location, such as behind the car radio or in the glove compartment, and connects to the radio via an integrated FM transmitter or a 3.5 mm AUX cable. The control unit, on the other hand, is wireless and operates on two AAA batteries.

The DAB’N’PLAY adapter offers typical digital radio functions. For example, with “Service Following”, the radio automatically switches to the nearest transmitter of the same station, ensuring uninterrupted playback while driving, even when the broadcast area changes. This eliminates the need for tedious station searches while driving. Traffic information is also received, and there is memory for 15 stations, four of which can be easily selected as favorites using the shortcut buttons on the control unit.

In the age of Spotify and similar services, the DAB’N’PLAY 550 enables music streaming in your car using your smartphone without the hassle of cables. If you prefer to listen to music from other mobile devices, you can connect them via cable. The adapter also offers a hands-free function with an external microphone, allowing you to make calls conveniently and, above all, safely while driving. Calls are easily answered and ended via a button on the control unit, so the driver isn’t distracted by on-screen menus.
